W E L C O M E - We're here to help you and us !

Our City and tax dollars are re-constructing Dawson Road and we are expecting great things! On the surface - new sidewalks, bike lanes, better roadways and even trees. Down below - all kinds of new pipes, electrical connections and stuff that will make things work more efficiently.

The work is scheduled to be done by September 30, 2010. Until then there will be lots of heavy equipment moving around. The City will keep all businesses accessible. Check out this blog regularly for helpful updates on road conditions and how to get into tight areas or call us at 519-767-2161 for up-to-the-minute conditions. Dawson Road businesses need your business, to ensure we're still here to celebrate the benefits of this reconstruction project.

Tuesday, October 5, 2010 - The End of One & Start of Another

Good Tuesday morning and welcome back to Dawson Road Today! Yesterday was a good day for construction work. The crew was working down at the Speedvale Avenue end in front of Meridian Credit Union. There was also a crew working down at the Shelldale Crescent and Dawson Road intersection, in-filling the ditches and grading.  Things are looking good.

I have mentioned a couple of times about the upcoming Menu Tasting Buffet to be held at the QB2 restaurant at 86 Dawson Road on Friday, October the 15th. I have uploaded the full-color menu to this blog with its own page. If you move up this main page to just above the welcome message, you will see two headings - one being home and the other being QB2 Menu Tasting Buffet October 15. By clicking on the second heading you will be taken to the page for the Menu Tasting Buffet information. Clicking on the home heading will bring you back to the main page of this blog. Please try this and give me your feedback of how this works, to ensure I've done it right. ( This page will remain on this blog until October 15 or the completion of the Dawson Road Reconstruction Project, whichever comes first.)

Now, read the menu and plan to attend this upcoming dining experience. Give the restaurant a call and let them know you're coming.

The weather for today is forecast to be damp, cool and cloudy. Cheer up, it's going to warm up and brighten up as the week goes on.

Since the start of this project last April, we have often talked about people driving the wrong way on a closed road. Just last Thursday, the Guelph Tribune published a piece entitled Crash Course on City Detours. Even though Dawson Road is near completion, it is no news to you that there are several projects around the city with a long way to go. So keep this information in mind. 'If you drive on to a closed road, even if there are no collisions as a result of ignoring the sign, drivers should be aware that they can still be charged. If you are charged with driving on a closed highway - that's a $100 ticket. If you are on a closed highway and you're in a collision, your insurance company may not cover you. Drivers can also be charged with disobeying signs, so they should stick to the detour route.' Good to know.

The blog that you are reading will cease to exist, once the Dawson Road Reconstruction Project is complete.  That has been the intention all along.  I have now started a new blog to specifically support the objectives of our own business, Plants For All. Initially, I will post to this new blog every two weeks with the objectives of developing community communications with people being involved  who have an interest or want to develop an interest in indoor tropical plants. I have posted several topic pages to the blog now and it will change and develop as we move along. As a reader of this blog, Dawson Road Today, I would ask that you visit my new blog over the next couple of months and give me your feedback on how to make it the best I can. Click on the link above to go to my new blog for Plants For All.  Thanks for your feedback.

Have a great day, here on Dawson Road.
