W E L C O M E - We're here to help you and us !

Our City and tax dollars are re-constructing Dawson Road and we are expecting great things! On the surface - new sidewalks, bike lanes, better roadways and even trees. Down below - all kinds of new pipes, electrical connections and stuff that will make things work more efficiently.

The work is scheduled to be done by September 30, 2010. Until then there will be lots of heavy equipment moving around. The City will keep all businesses accessible. Check out this blog regularly for helpful updates on road conditions and how to get into tight areas or call us at 519-767-2161 for up-to-the-minute conditions. Dawson Road businesses need your business, to ensure we're still here to celebrate the benefits of this reconstruction project.

Tuesday, October 12, 2010 - A lot of good things going on

Good Tuesday morning and welcome back to Dawson Road Today!

Another Thanksgiving has come and gone and I hope everything was well with yours'. I actually took all three days off. That wasn't the original plan but you know how plans get changed. In addition to a last-minute, traditional Thanksgiving dinner with family, Linda and I spent some quality time together building a . . . ., I can't tell you.

The much anticipated Menu Tasting Buffet is happening this Friday, October 15 at the QB 2 restaurant at 86 Dawson Road. To get a detailed menu offering and more information about the event click onto the header at the top of this post referencing the QB 2 Menu Tasting Buffet or call the restaurant at the number listed in the right sidebar.

Coming up this week - crews will be installing the new sidewalks, one on each side of Dawson Road. Especially during the spring summer and fall, we have a good number of people who walk or jog on Dawson Road in the evenings. The addition of the new sidewalks will make it a safer journey for them as well as the many students who travel Dawson Road each school day. Take advantage of the new sidewalks and take a stroll down Dawson Road. Many of the businesses are open in the evenings and it would be a great time for you to discover them.

As of early this morning, Edinburgh Road was still closed between Willow and London Road. This stretch of road was scheduled to reopen today, but I know they are a little behind schedule. Keep an eye out for and pay attention to the signs in that area. If you hear about it opening up soon give me a call at 519-767-2161 and I'll let my readers know.

Coming up next Monday, I will be speaking at the KW Garden Club in Waterloo. Please be aware that both Linda and I are available to speak for clubs or other groups on topics related to indoor tropical plants.

When you come onto Dawson Road today you will be directed by an arrow at the Shelldale end pointing you into the left lane. Please follow the posted signs and the pylons carefully. Dawson Road will be busy this week with road grading in preparation for paving, sidewalk installation, landscaping, and with crews finishing up the curb work. And for goodness sake, and safety sake, drive in the right direction which is northbound only from Shelldale to Speedvale through the construction site.

If you followed my postings last week regarding the installation of the curbs, you will recall that the driveway access is very narrow through the new curbs. This is a temporary situation, and was done to accommodate driveway access during the installation of the curbs. This photo shows the access to our driveway, Plants For All at 66 Dawson Road. The point is that when you're ready to exit Dawson Road into one of the business lots, the access way is temporarily narrower. Take your time and you'll be good.

Well that's quite a bit for the start of a new week. And on top of all that, we have the excitement of having our garbage day move from Monday to today because of the holiday.
