W E L C O M E - We're here to help you and us !

Our City and tax dollars are re-constructing Dawson Road and we are expecting great things! On the surface - new sidewalks, bike lanes, better roadways and even trees. Down below - all kinds of new pipes, electrical connections and stuff that will make things work more efficiently.

The work is scheduled to be done by September 30, 2010. Until then there will be lots of heavy equipment moving around. The City will keep all businesses accessible. Check out this blog regularly for helpful updates on road conditions and how to get into tight areas or call us at 519-767-2161 for up-to-the-minute conditions. Dawson Road businesses need your business, to ensure we're still here to celebrate the benefits of this reconstruction project.

Thursday, September 2, 2010 - Some Good Rising Out of the Dust

Good Thursday morning and welcome back to Dawson Road Today!

To do my work, I have to travel around the city to my clients' locations to tend their live tropical plants in their offices. More and more frequently I'm getting the question of how our construction on Dawson Road is coming along. When asking the question, they expect me to be frustrated; and I'm not. The end is in sight. I have met a lot of new and interesting and good people. Some of the businesses have come closer together. I know a lot more about road construction now than I did back in April.

There is not a lot of new construction news to tell you because the crew is continuing to work on the storm water system.  Construction is pretty well on track and chugging along. Because my work takes me all over the city, I have the opportunity to negotiate most of the construction sites in the city. And it's only natural that I compare our Dawson Road project to the others. I think were coming out ahead.

If you are a Dawson Road business and you are planning some kind of back-to-school promotion, e-mail me today and I'll include it in Friday's post. plantsforall@ody.ca

Linda had a very interesting visitor to our shop, Plants For All,  on Wednesday. A local freelance writer has been contracted to research the idea of outdoor gardening using artificial plants. She came to us because she googled and found that we're one of the leading retailers of quality artificial plants. We carry a new line of ultraviolet and weather resistant artificial plants that can be used indoors and outdoors. So keep your eyes open down the road because it may just be her article with a little bit of local flavour.

The weather has been hot and dry and dusty lately here on Dawson Road. As uncomfortable as that may be it did allow for steady work on the construction site. The forecast (here I go again) is calling for thunderstorms later today. We'll just have to wait and see how that plays out. Have a great Thursday and I hope we'll see you on Dawson Road Today.

Brian
