Good Friday morning and welcome back to Dawson Road Today!
What a difference a day makes. We go from dry hot weather one-day to damp and below seasonal temperatures the next. But it's Friday; and a long weekend to boot. Yesterday's rain showers came late in the day and didn't interfere with the rate of construction very much. But late last night there were lots of puddles on the ground and today's weather doesn't look very promising either.
I was glad to see that some of the signs were put back up at the Speedvale end of Dawson Road. In particular the signs that list the names of all the businesses that are in the construction zone. I realize that most people are not going to be able to stop and read the sign but at the very least it helps the businesses realize that they have not been forgotten or abandoned. I took this picture last evening during one of the rain showers and we sure do have lots of signs. Maybe you can use the signs of business names as a checklist to make sure you get to visit each of these businesses before the end of construction. But hurry, were into the last month.
At the start of construction today you will find that there is no longer any little jog to the left on Dawson Road near the Speedvale Avenue end. So when you get onto Dawson Road you can drive straight through to Speedvale Avenue without being diverted due to construction. Speedvale Ave itself is still down to 2 lanes, one eastbound and one westbound.
Random Cameos:
Enjoy your long weekend. Please remember that when you get back onto Dawson Road on Tuesday, September 7 that this is the first day of school. We have lots of students that walk on Dawson Road early in the morning and back again mid-to-late afternoon. They saw the start of construction in May but most of them have not been on-site during construction hours for a few months. Construction workers and regular vehicular traffic please watch out for our students.
That's it! Talk to you Tuesday.
Brian
