W E L C O M E - We're here to help you and us !

Our City and tax dollars are re-constructing Dawson Road and we are expecting great things! On the surface - new sidewalks, bike lanes, better roadways and even trees. Down below - all kinds of new pipes, electrical connections and stuff that will make things work more efficiently.

The work is scheduled to be done by September 30, 2010. Until then there will be lots of heavy equipment moving around. The City will keep all businesses accessible. Check out this blog regularly for helpful updates on road conditions and how to get into tight areas or call us at 519-767-2161 for up-to-the-minute conditions. Dawson Road businesses need your business, to ensure we're still here to celebrate the benefits of this reconstruction project.

Tuesday, August 3, 2010 - Crank it up, again.

Good Tuesday morning and welcome back to Dawson Road Today! I hope you made the most of your long weekend. Whether you call it Civic Day or John Galt Day or Banking Holiday or Lieutenant Governor General Day or whatever, it has to be one of the most confusing holidays that we observe. But I don't hear too many people complaining about taking it off work.

We're at the start of a new week again and the start of a new month again, so let's crank it up again. The major reconstruction of Dawson Road started officially on April 21. April is gone, May is gone, June is gone , and now July is gone. As we are now into August, we are into the last two months of construction on Dawson Road. Timeline wise we are 64% done. The work has progressed well and I believe that we are on schedule. I think that spirits  on Dawson Road are generally as good as we can expect and that everyone including the businesses, the construction crew, the City and the citizens are all working toward the common goal of completion by September 30 as projected.

The weather for today seems a little suspicious with some rain in the forecast.  If the crews get at it, work will continue on the freshwater supply hookups to each lot and work should start again on the installation of the big storm sewers. One note from Guelph Remastered that will affect this area and is directly related to the Edinburgh Road reconstruction project:

Waterworks will be repairing a leak on Edinburgh Road at Suffolk Street West.
Work is taking place in the two southbound lanes and two-way traffic will be maintained HOWEVER significant delays are expected.

so take note of that delay in your travels on Edinburgh Rd. tomorrow.

Today we would like to draw your attention to one of the Dawson Road businesses located in the Plaza at 86 Dawson Rd. Hardsoft Computer is located in unit 5 at 86 Dawson Rd. Hardsoft Computer is a family-run business that was initially set up behind us here at 66 Dawson Rd. They moved down to 86 Dawson Rd about two years ago and are easier to spot from the road when you're driving by looking for them.
Stop in and see Bo for your computing needs. Hardsoft Computer specializes in the sales of used computer equipment. They sell laptops and desktops and all of the peripherals and accessories required.  They are also experts in computer equipment repair, upgrading and tuneups.  Over the years, I have bought most of my computer equipment for our business, Plants For All, from Hardsoft Computer.  Bo offers good prices, knowledgable service and quick turn around times.  You'll get a good deal from Bo at Hardsoft Computer at 86 Dawson Road.  They are sandwiched in between Payless Mattress and QB2 Cafe & Dining.  Make Bo one of your Dawson Road business personalities to discover.

To start this short week, there is not a lot of active construction equipment on site.  The roadway is open.  Come onto Dawson Road from Willow Road and travel northbound only. You should experience no delays in your trip on Dawson Road today, so come on down.  We would love to see you.

Brian
