Good Monday morning and welcome back to Dawson Road Today! I am sure that you will all join me in being thankful that we have a full five-day workweek, this week. Lets get on with it.
There was some extra activity on Dawson Road this past weekend - QB 2 Café and Dining held a fund-raising buffet to assist African children affected by AIDS. The food was prepared and presented and supplied by the restaurant and all money contributed went towards the cause. Good on them.
I would like to thank Charles Groen, on-site Inspector with Pitura Husson, for supplying me with several photographs of the Dawson Road reconstruction project up to this point. These pictures offer better detail and are more up-close than most of the ones I can take. I will use some of these pictures in future post presentations. I don't know if it's a measure of anything or not; but I now have way more pictures on my computer of the Dawson Road reconstruction project than I do of my family.
In the Guelph Tribune paper of last Thursday, August 5, Payless Mattress ran a full-page ad on page 30. They are having a huge mattress sale due to the construction. Check out the ad for a number of specials on mattress sets including no HST, free local delivery, free removal of old bed, and free pillow. In the ad itself they also have a 10% off coupon, so check it out. Check the ad and/or the store for the special promotional details. Payless Mattress is located at 86 Dawson Road, phone 519-823-0929. Check out their web page by clicking on the link in the right sidebar here or you can e-mail them at paylessmattress@bellnet.ca
Today the construction crew will pick up where they left off on Friday. They stayed quite late on Friday afternoon, because after laying in their last box culvert they encountered a pipe running crosswise on the road, in their way. They stayed and cleared the earth away from this pipe in order to get a fresh start on Monday morning. Work will start again in front of Plants For All at 66 Dawson Road. Work to this point on the storm sewer is moving at a good pace, causing some rescheduling for the suppliers. That's a good sign, I think. As you're well aware, Bel-Air Construction is doing the work on the Dawson Road reconstruction project. They are also doing the work on the Edinburgh Road reconstruction project and the Westmount Road reconstruction project.
Coming event - on Thursday, August 26 the QB 2 Café and Dining will be hosting a Tasting Buffet Event. Set this day aside as a wonderful opportunity to try the different foods being offered at the Ethiopian restaurant at 86 Dawson Road. I just wanted to give you this advance heads-up notice. More information will be forthcoming or contact the QB 2 Café and Dining at the restaurant or call 519-546-8811 or 519-803-6008. We will also have more information here at Plants For All at 66 Dawson Road or call 519-767-2161.
It looks like the week ahead is shaping up pretty good. Construction is moving along well and the businesses are open and accessible. Come on down to Dawson Road. Today being Monday, I will be in the shop all day and would love to see you at Plants For All at 66 Dawson Road. An important reminder that when you travel on Dawson Road drive in the northbound lane only. Do not drive in the southbound construction lane. Firstly, I would suggest that is it illegal to do so. Secondly, the road material in the construction lane is a much rougher grade of material and very well may damage the tires on your car. So there, now let's all be happy and make this a good week.
Brian
